TorHoerman Law Secures $25 Million Verdict in Tragic Pool Death Case

TorHoerman Law Secures $25 Million Verdict in Tragic Pool Death Case

A Missouri jury has awarded a $25 million verdict to the Justice family in their wrongful death case against a pool distributor.

The verdict, secured by TorHoerman Law, comes after the tragic drowning of the family’s two-year-old daughter, who accessed an above-ground pool using a nylon strap that was part of the pool’s design.

The case centered on the pool’s defective design, which created a foothold, allowing the child to climb into the pool unsupervised.

Despite the company’s attempts to minimize their responsibility, the jury found them liable for the defective design that led to this devastating loss.

Jake Plattenberger, who served as lead counsel for the Justice family, stated that:

“Today’s verdict delivers justice by holding the company accountable for the wrongful death of a bright and beloved two-year-old. The jury’s decision affirms that the company’s defective nylon strap directly led to this heartbreaking tragedy. While no verdict can undo their loss, we are honored to have stood by the Justice family and hope this brings them some closure and drives safer design to prevent future harm.”

TorHoerman Law Secures $25 Million Verdict in Tragic Pool Death Case

The $25 million verdict, secured by the TorHoerman Law team of Jake Plattenberger, Eric Terry, and Alan Holcomb, far exceeded the company’s final settlement offer of $1 million — underscoring the jury’s recognition of the severity of the case and the corporation’s responsibility.

While we know that no amount of money can ever replace the precious life that was lost, we hope this verdict provides the Justice family with some measure of closure and the knowledge that their daughter’s death has led to increased awareness about pool manufacturing safety.
