1 dead, 1 injured after motorcyclist runs red light, slams into car on Northwest Side

The fatal crash happened in the early hours Tuesday

CHICAGO, IL – One person is dead and another is injured after a motorcyclist ran a red light and slammed into a passenger vehicle in the Portage Park neighborhood early Tuesday morning.

ABC 7 Chicago reports that the accident happened just before 2 a.m. in the 5600-block of West Irving Park Road. The 19-year-old motorcyclist was speeding west when he ran through a red light and T-boned the passenger vehicle.

Authorities say the motorcyclist died at the scene from massive trauma to both the head and body.

Emergency responders transported the passenger vehicle’s driver to the hospital with lacerations to the face and leg. The 21-year-old man was listed in good condition.

Chicago Police are continuing to investigate the incident. We will provide further updates as they become available.
