ST. LOUIS, MO – Multiple vehicles were involved in a wrong-way crash Saturday, January 4, in northwest St. Louis that claimed the life of a 31-year-old man, reports KTTN.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers say it occurred in the 9600 block of Lewis and Clark Boulevard at about 5:35 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found that the victim, a local resident, was driving a 2006 Honda Accord northbound in the southbound lanes. At one point, a 51-year-old St. Louis man behind the wheel of a 2000 Toyota Avalon tried to avoid the wrong-way car by swerving, but the left side of the Toyota was still hit by the Honda.

After proceeding in a wrong-way direction, the Honda went on to strike a 2012 Ford F-150 head-on.

The driver of the Honda was rushed to Barnes-Jewish Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 6:34 p.m. Officials noted he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.

The driver of the Ford-150, a 44-year-old Illinois man, who was found to have been wearing a seatbelt, was transported to the same hospital for minor injuries.

No injuries to the driver of the Toyota were reported.

All three vehicles required towage from the scene due to extensive or moderate damage.
