It happened on eastbound Interstate 70 at Jennings Station Road.

ST. LOUIS, MO – Multiple people, including two juveniles, were injured Thursday afternoon due to a crash in northwest St. Louis involving five vehicles, reports the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The incident unfolded on the eastbound side of Interstate 70 at Jennings Station Road. It was first reported at 12:50 p.m.

Officials say a 55-year-old Florissant man was behind the wheel of an eastbound 2021 Freightliner MT45 that was stopped for congestion ahead. A 21-year-old Curryville man was driving a 2012 Mack CXU eastbound when he failed to maintain a proper lookout, prompting him to swerve to the left in an effort to avoid a crash. The front-right of the Mack CXU still hit the rear of the Freightliner, and the left side of the Freightliner’s towed unit hit a 2014 Cadillac Escalade that was heading eastbound in lane 1.

As the Mack CXU driver steered to the right, the right side of the towed unit went on to hit the left side of Escalade driven by a 32-year-old St. Louis man. The front of the Mack CXU also then hit the back of a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 34-year-old Illinois resident.

Two children from a 2023 Toyota Camry that was involved were transported to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for minor injuries. They were found to have not been wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

The driver of the Mack CXU was taken to St. Louis University Hospital for minor injuries, meanwhile the drivers of the Freightliner, the Equinox, and the Toyota Camry, a 34-year-old Illinois resident, were transported to Barnes Jewish Hospital, also for minor injuries. A 30-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Toyota Corolla was also hurt and taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital.

The MSHP crash report indicates all involved vehicles were either totaled or sustained minor to extensive damages. No charges or citations have been announced at this time.
