It happened on the eastbound lanes, west of Burning Tree Lane.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO – Troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision late Tuesday afternoon near Festus that injured three people, including two children, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident happened on the eastbound side of State Road A, west of Burning Tree Lane. It was first reported at about 4:17 p.m.

The MSHP crash report shows that a 66-year-old DeSoto man was operating a 2009 International PB305 school bus eastbound on Route A when he made aa right turn onto Burning Tree Lane. A 33-year-old Festus woman who was driving a 2016 Honda Odyssey eastbound behind the bus tried to apply her brakes, but the front-end of the Odyssey hit the back right of the bus. As a result, the bus came to a stop on Burning Tree Lane, and the Odyssey came to rest blocking the eastbound side of Route A.

The driver of the Odyssey and two passengers, children ages 4 and 10, were all transported to Mercy Hospital Jefferson for minor injuries.

The Odyssey and the school bus sustained extensive and moderate damages, respectively.

It remains unclear at this time whether anyone is expected to be charged.
